Stepping up - Bridging the Succession Gap
what happens when…
your organisation has a great desire to promote from within your loyal internal people, but know no-one is up to the task?
Our customer, a recruitment organisation, with a fast paced culture, wanted to retain it’s talent by promoting from within when great opportunities arose.
However this fell flat on it’s face when a senior role vacancy came up and the leap was just too far for all the candidates.
They wanted to stop this from happening again, and were still committed to rewarding their loyal talented people. Therefore they reached out to find out how to help their high potentials to get ready to step up!
The leap to ‘Head of’ in this organisation was significant, both in terms of strategic decision making and in credibility as a senior leader for all others to look up to.
This meant a programme of activities that helped develop visible credibility in the organisation, leadership presence, strategic acumen among other things.
The Emerging Leader Programme was marketed internally with Kudos. People knew that getting a place on it spoke volumes - the organisation was investing in them and their long term future with the company.
The programme kicked off with a Virtual introductory launch session, co-delivered by our impressive learning consultant and the two customer board members.
Next we used PRISM Brain Mapping® to provide detailed professional profiling for each specially selected learner.
The feedback was unanimous that this step, right at the get-go, had immense impact! To massively increase self-awareness and review their own strengths and development areas with a leadership expert in professional 1:1 feedback and coaching sessions, specifically in the context of stepping up to a senior role in their real world was invaluable to the learners. It fast tracked highly personalised development plans and drove self directed learning, as well as building value for the bespoke workshops and activities we had planned for them.
In addition, the board witnessed genuine leadership talent emerge as a result. Visible changes and actions in the workplace demonstrated growing credibility in front of peers. This happened even earlier in the programme than they expected!
